Visualization
Flexsim was built from the beginning to be the first and best simulation
solution wherein models are built and run completely in an interactive 3D
environment. If a picture can speak a thousand words, Flexsim's virtual reality
animation and 3D view windows speak volumes!
The Visualization Engine
Flexsim incorporates all the latest computer graphics technology available
using OpenGL. With the wide range of direct import options for 3D models
(including .3ds (3D Studio MAX), .wrl (VRML), .dxf (AutoCAD), and .stl), Flexsim
provides options not available in any other simulation package. Flexsim's
built-in 3D orthographic and perspective views allow the user to add light
sources, fog, and VR cube technology.
The visualization engine uses highly efficient algorithms for accurately
calculating diffuse, ambient, emissive, and specular colors and highlights of 3D
meshes in real time. Flexsim can also use reflective environment mapping to
produce such materials as chrome, gold, and shiny glass in real time. Using
these tools, modelers can create simulations that are fast, accurate, and
life-like.
Presentation
Fly paths can be defined effortlessly to provide state-of-the-art model
presentation fly-throughs. Smooth .avi files can be generated using Flexsim's
AVI recorder with a wide variety of compression codecs to choose from. Any model
can be recorded, copied, and sent to anyone for instant viewing.
Don't forget about Flexsim's powerful business graphics! Charts,
Spreadsheets, Graphs, Histograms, and 3D text make presenting model information
exciting and interactive.
Custom reports can be generated on the fly. Flexsim's open architecture
allows the user to link with any OBDC data source for reading or writing of
model data. Excel and Word files can easily be linked at run-time for data
presentation using DDE or OLE connections.
